SAINT PAUL, MN (April 29, 2015) – The Minnesota Clean Energy & Jobs Campaign today unveiled a series of radio ads calling on Minnesota lawmakers to support efforts to grow clean energy and spur energy efficiency in the state and oppose any attempt to rollback Minnesota’s clean energy progress—like those in the recently passed Minnesota House energy bill (H.F. 843). The online and radio ads begin running today in districts around the state.
“The House bill was full of bad ideas—eliminating Minnesota’s successful energy efficiency programs and watering down our Renewable Energy Standard, to name two—but it was also full of missed opportunity,” said Justin Fay, Minnesota Clean Energy & Jobs campaign manager. “Poll after poll shows Minnesotans support clean energy, and the public deserves to know how their representatives are voting on these important issues. We’ll be working hard to stand up for Minnesota’s clean energy businesses, even if the Minnesota House won’t.”
The ads kick off a series of planned statewide efforts to educate the public about the House bill and the votes taken by lawmakers, as well as to offer an alternative—a responsible Minnesota Clean Energy Plan that will build on our state’s clean energy progress the right way. Events will be held throughout the state in the coming week.
“There are 15,000 Minnesotans working at nearly 800 clean energy businesses in our state and the House bill put up a huge signal to them and countless other businesses that says, ‘don’t invest here.’ We will not allow the progress we’ve made to be stopped by out-of-state special interests and their legislative allies,” said Fay.
